Process Guide

Commercial fitout, step by step: from design to opening

A failed fitout costs more than money — it delays opening and dents the brand. Know the flow and you control risk.

Stage 1 — Design & partners

Engage designer/architect → our joinery team details → coordinate fire engineer → submit DA (with heritage approval if needed). Typically 4–8 weeks.

Stage 2 — Build & install

Workshop build (6–8 wks) → strip-out & base works → joinery install (2–3 wks) → paint/finish → hardware. Typically 8–12 weeks.

Stage 3 — Handover & open

Building compliance → fire inspection → (food) health inspection → pre-open clean → soft furnishings. Usually 2–3 weeks after joinery.

Timeline summary

Total ~16–26 weeks (4–6 months). A full fitout with DA is 2–3× a home job; start planning 6+ months out.
