Cabinet Hinges Pulled Out: Hardware and Damaged Boards
A kitchen cupboard door that drops, rubs or will not close can have a hinge fault, a loose mounting plate or damaged board around its fixings. We check the door and cabinet together before agreeing an adjustment, hardware replacement or repair to the fixing area.
Some local hinge fixing areas can be repaired when enough suitable board remains. Swelling, splitting or extensive damage may need separately scoped board repair or replacement. If the damage is beneath a sink, we also consider the moisture source, with plumbing responsibilities kept separate from the cabinet repair.
Kitchen Drawer Repairs: Runners and Drawer Boxes
A kitchen drawer that sticks, tilts or comes off its runners needs the drawer box and runner system checked together. We compare alignment, loose or damaged fixings, runner wear and the front position before choosing adjustment or compatible replacement parts. Overloading is not the only possible cause.
We match replacement hardware to the existing system, dimensions, fixing positions and intended function. Similar-looking runners or soft-close parts may not fit. Before parts are ordered, we confirm availability and whether the drawer or cabinet needs modification to accept a different system.
Cupboard and Timber Display Cabinet Repairs
A damaged hinge, door or drawer does not automatically justify replacing the kitchen. Local repair may be suitable when the retained cabinet and adjacent fixing areas are appropriate. Where the box or board has deteriorated, list that material work separately so a hardware allowance does not conceal the underlying fault.
New manufacture, a changed kitchen layout and wider installation projects belong with MEL ONE's cabinetry service. The same distinction applies to wardrobes and fitted storage. Compare the cost and achievable appearance of the accepted local repair with any separately specified replacement rather than assuming every surface will match existing aged finishes.
We repair wooden display-cabinet carcasses, timber doors and frames, hinges and drawers. We check the affected assembly and fixing points before agreeing adjustment, local timber repair or replacement parts. Glass, lighting, electrical work and specialist locks are outside this timber repair scope.

Hardware Supply, Finishing and Operation Checks
The MEL ONE team checks compatible hinges, runners and fixings, records who supplies each part, and agrees removal, board repairs, door-front adjustment and finishing with you. We check the repaired doors and drawers for operation and record the agreed work in the quote.
At completion, the MEL ONE team checks opening and closing, alignment, drawer travel and the agreed soft-close or locking functions. We record the repaired areas and any agreed coating, colour matching or wider finish work with you.
Cabinet Repair Quote: Hardware, Board Repairs and Finishing
Tell us whether the repair is to a kitchen cupboard, fitted storage or wooden display cabinet, which doors or drawers are affected, and how many need attention. Describe dropping, rubbing, jamming or runners coming loose, and mention swollen or cracked board nearby. Photos and rough dimensions are optional for the first enquiry; the site assessment checks the assembly and compatible parts before we price the repair.
We agree adjustment, hinge or runner replacement, board repairs and who supplies the parts. We discuss removal, disposal, making-good and coating as included or separately arranged tasks. Discontinued hardware or damaged board can change the scope, so any cabinet modification and revised price need agreement before proceeding. Plumbing and electrical work remain separate.
At completion, we review door alignment, opening and closing, drawer travel and the fitted hardware with you. Any separately arranged coating or plumbing work is recorded. Any assessment charge is confirmed before booking.
Hinge Fixings, Drawer Runners and Small Repair Questions
Can damaged cabinet hinge holes be repaired?
Some local fixing areas can be repaired when sufficient suitable material remains. Swollen board or extensive damage around the hinge may require a separately scoped board repair or replacement; a new hinge alone may not resolve it.
Why does a kitchen drawer keep falling off its runners?
Runner damage, alignment, loose fixings or the drawer box can contribute. MEL ONE checks the assembly and compatible parts before agreeing adjustment or runner replacement rather than assuming overloading is the only cause.
Does MEL ONE Carpentry handle a small cupboard repair?
Yes. MEL ONE Carpentry assesses cupboard door, drawer, hardware and associated cabinet material repairs. A changed kitchen layout or new cabinetry is a different project brief.
